Axel Witsel, born 12 January 1989, is a Belgian national footballer currently playing for the Belgian national team Tianjin Quanjian as a midfielder on 26 March 2008 in Witsel making his domestic debut during a friendly against Morocco. The match resulted in a 1-4 loss, but he scored his first goal for Belgium. His international appearance came three years after Morocco's sixth-minute finish against Austria in Group A of UEFA EURO 2012, and in May 2018 he was named in Belgium's preliminary squad.
