   One of the guiding forces behind Vietnam's run into the final of the AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022, Doan Van Hau was not just solid in the defence, but was also a constant threat as Park Hang-seo's side forayed forward. The tournament saw Van Hau score his first-ever international goal after making his Vietnam debut in 2017 and he also accounted for an assist.    Making 19 clearances and eight blocks, 23-year-old Sharul Nazeem was a towering presence in Malaysia's central defence partnering Dominic Tan. Many would have given a weakened Malaysia little chance of making the semi-finals prior to the start of the event, but Sharul was one of the many players who stepped up to make it happen for Kim Pan-gon's side. It was a memorable 2022 for Sharul as he made his international debut and will now hope to be a part of the Malaysian roster for their first AFC Asian Cup appearance since 2007.

   Kritsada Kaman played every single minute of Thailand's championship-winning campaign at AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022. The 23-year-old formed a formidable partnership with Pansa Hemviboon in the central defence that allowed Alexandre Polking's side to play with freedom in attack. The Chonburi FC defender has to his name 18 clearances and nine interceptions in eight matches, while he also attempted 552 passes, the second most in the tournament, with a pass success rate of 91 percent.

While in the defence he made a commendable 16 clearances and five interceptions during the 630 minutes he was on the pitch, the 29-year-old also scored from the penalty spot in Vietnam's 3-0 win over Malaysia in the group stage before providing an exquisite assist for tournament's joint top scorer Nguyen Tien Linh in the first leg of the final in Hanoi.    Sasalak Haiprakhon's marauding runs down the left-hand side was a feature of Alexandre Polking's Thailand side at the AFF Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2022. On the defensive side, Suphanan made 10 interceptions to keep things tight at the back for the now seven-time champions of ASEAN.
